AKRON CIVIC THEATRE - 182 S. Main Street, Akron, Ohio
The Akron Civic Theatre debuted in 1929 as a vaudeville stage. It's interior, fashioned after a Moorish castle, boasts Mediterranean decor with medieval carvings, authentic European antiques and Italian alabaster sculptures. The 2,672-seat Civic recently underwent a 23-million-dollar facelift restoring the grande dame to its original pristine elegance.
DIRECTIONS:
From Cleveland: I-77 South to downtown Rt. 59 (Martin Luther King Expressway) Exit 21C. Exit at Cascade & Market Street Exit ; pass through caution light; proceed to next traffic light; turn right on Center Street. At next light, turn left on Bowery Street. Continue one block to South Main Street; turn right.
From Youngstown, Kent, or I-76: Take I-76 to the Main/Broadway Exit #22A. Exit right onto Broadway. Go 10 lights and turn left on Mill Street. Go 2 lights to South Main Street; turn left.
From Canton: I-77 North toward Cleveland. Go to Exit 22A (Main Street/Broadway). Continue on Broadway ( a one-way street) for 10 lights. Turn left onto Mill Street. Go 2 lights to South Main Street; turn left.
From Rt. 8 or North 59: Take the Perkins Street Exit and turn right onto Perkins. At the fifth street, turn left onto South Main Street.
PARKING NEAR THE CIVIC
Located at 182 South Main Street in the center of downtown Akron, the Civic is surrounded by several parking decks and a surface lot.
